In addition to perking you up, a daily dose of caffeine may also ward off headaches and boost your memory
A cup of coffee can do more than just wake you up in the morning. The drink has been shown to slow age-related declines in memory and attention span. And a recent study found that two cups of coffee a day may also improve long-term memory.
But that’s not all a cup of joe can do. The caffeinated varieties can also ward off headaches by reducing the size of blood vessels that typically enlarge before the onset of a headache or a migraine. Chasing an aspirin with a cup of caffeinated coffee can also help diminish the pain once it’s started. According to researchers, the combined pain-relieving effect is 40% more effective than aspirin on its own.
